Course Map

Speed Town Korea Circuit that transcends the boundaries of track and state-of-the-art city! There are a number of sectors where you can recognize and learn about comprehensive car performance in the Korea International Circuit. On the other hand, it is a place where driver’s capabilities are tested to precisely control the machine. We have randomly divided a 5.615 km course (Formula 1) into 3 sectors to grasp the characteristics of each sector. When a Formula 1 Race is held, it is similarly divided into 3 sectors for measuring records.

Maximum speed sector for testing the limit of engine performance

This sector includes the start-finish line. In the case of Turn 1, which drivers will be facing first, drivers have to reduce the speed to approx. 100 km/h from a maximum of 300 km/h by pressing the brake. So, it is expected that overtaking might occur frequently. Following Turn 2, which is relatively slow, there is a 1.2 km length sector, which is the longest straight sector. In this sector, it is expected that the maximum speed might reach approx. 320 km/h and full-power engine performance is required. In the following Turn 3, drivers should rapidly reduce the speed, which may inevitably lead to stress on tires.

제 1구간
Section Explanation
T1
R:12 / W : 15M
(High-speed area) It is the first corner area after the F1 course start line, having a corner angle of R12. During the first lap, pressure may be relatively low. However, the braking point becomes very important after a certain momentum is applied while driving. Safety zones have been secured sufficiently at the main grand stand and the front spectators stand. However, since certain factors might excite drivers, not paying attention may lead to collision on tire barry. R: Circular Radius using the center of the corner as a standard Therefore, the corner angle becomes smaller as R gets smaller.
T2
R:40 / W : 13M
It is a relatively slow corner after the first corner in R40, where drivers can easily increase their speed. The straight sector (1.2 km) that follows is the area where drivers can experience the maximum speed. In the case of F1 machines, the maximum speed may reach up to 320 km/h, while racing cars may reach up to 250-270 km/h, depending on its performance. Since both sides are blocked with mobile walls, a driver’s exit is equipped every 200 m in order to prevent an accident.
T3
R:12 / W :13M
It is the end-point of the straight course, where drivers have to instantaneously reduce their speed from the maximum speed. Since it has a corner angle of R12, drivers may lose the sense of distance at the maximum speed. Therefore, the distance (200 / 150 / 100 / 50) from the left side of the mobile wall to the corner is indicated before entering the corner to help the brake point setting. It is the intersection for dividing the permanent course and the F1 course.

2nd Sector

It is the area where the mid and high-speed cornering sector

It is the area where the mid and high-speed cornering sector and the low-speed cornering sector, in which drivers have to compete with cornering performance and balance, are evenly distributed. 2nd sector has a 3 km length permanent track, where every component needed for the circuit is equipped. The third-longest straight line course in this track is arranged between Turn 3 and Turn 4. However, in the continuous cornering sectors that the drivers will be facing in the left-right-left course after Turn 5 and Turn 6, it requires a significant level of driving techniques for drivers. The three corners at the northern-most side leading to Turn 7-9 are high-speed corners where drivers can easily pass through with short braking. This provides drivers opportunities for exciting and interesting challenges.

제 2구간
Section Explanation
T4
R:25 / W :15M
Since the corner is formed in a U-shape, drivers have to sufficiently reduce their speed in order to safely pass through this sector, without deviating from the course. Drivers have to enter the corner as deeply as possible and set the CP in order to pass at once. Since deviation and spins occur frequently in this course, it may have a significant impact on the total driving time.
T5
R:20 / W :13M
Since the outer side of the corner is lower than the inner side and the cornering angle is R20, failure to control the speed may lead to course deviation. Due to this, drivers feel a lot of mental stress in this course. Also, since drivers have to make a left turn immediately after the right turn, drivers’ concentration is required.
T6
R:18 / W : 13M
It is the left-turn corner immediately following the 5th corner, followed by a blind course thereafter. In this area, control capabilities are required for the drivers, rather than the speed. Since several numbers of corners are connected in a short distance, it is a suitable place for drift racing. A temporary grand stand starts from the right and are followed by high hills, which makes drivers feel more nervous. However, drivers may still increase their speed. Right after passing the hills, drivers can freely race along the course. * Blind Sector: It is the corner where the front view is not visible, in other words, the front view is blocked by a certain obstacle when entering the corner. Also, the corner where it is difficult to check for the clipping point when entering the downhill corner is also one type of blind corner.
T7
R:73 / W :13M
It is a slow corner that follows after passing the blind hill, where drivers can freely race along the track. Drivers can feel the thrills of racing downhill and further increase the speed as they move into the inner side of the corner and quickly move out.
T8
R:122 / W :13M
It is a R122 corner where drivers can race at mid and high speeds. Drivers can enjoy the speed and drive through this course, if they control their cars considering the fact that the outer side of the corner is lower. Entering the inner side of the corner and driving outside (IN-OUT) will be advantageous for moving into the next corner.
T9
R:60 / W :13M
Due to acceleration that has been applied from exiting the 8th corner having a smooth angle and passing the short straight sector, failure to pay attention might lead to a collision with the left fence. In fact, many racers have experienced collisions with the left side fence causing spins.
T10
R:14 / W :13M
It is a R14 corner where braking should be applied very deeply. Similar to the 9th corner, speed control failure may lead to a collision with left fence. It is the most difficult and dangerous corner throughout this track, which may lead to a collision with other vehicles. It suddenly appears following the smooth corners, so drivers should pay attention in order not to miss the brake timing.
T11
R:85, 58 / W :13M
(Mid and high speed sector) It is a corner sector having left-turn R85 and R58 cornering angle. It is also called the giant corner. Since the record line is slightly different depending on the F1 course and the permanent course, it should be applied differently according to each course in order to achieve good results. Driving at the center when entering the first corner and driving into the inner side of the corner at the second corner will be advantageous for moving into the following 12th corner.
T12
R:58 / W :13M
It is a tough corner that follows right after passing through the 2nd corner in the 11th course, which also requires the driver’s attention. Since this is a right-turn corner that comes immediately after the long giant left-turn course and has a slightly deep angle, failure to pay attention may lead to a deviation from the course and have an influence on the total driving time. It is one of the reverse-bank corners, where corner OUT is higher than corner IN, and where mobile walls are built on the right side, starting from the marina sector. Drivers may be overwhelmed due to this.

3rd Sector

Natural marina sector facing beautiful Yeongam Lake

Since the 3rd sector has a relatively short straight course, drivers have less opportunities for acceleration. Instead, there are low-speed corners and mid and high speed corners where drivers have to abruptly change the machine’s direction. When they reach Turn 15, which is located at the southern part of the track, it is expected that the speed will fall to approx. 100 km/h. This course will be passing through urban areas after urban development has been carried out in the future. Especially, the marina sector, which comes to its peak at Turn 17, is expected to become a beautiful waterfront area that can be compatible with Monaco or Valencia Street Circuit in the Mediterranean Sea. Following the last corner (Turn 18), it reaches the start-finish line.

제 3구간
Section Explanation
T13
R:43 / W :13M
(Marina sector) It is composed of the low-speed corner, which requires rapid cornering, and the left-turn corner leading to the mid and high speed corner. Drivers should apply OUT cornering and it is advantageous to focus on complete cornering rather than speed. Also, this sector faces the beautiful Yeongam Lake and has an entrance and an exit to the service road in 2 and 8 o’clock directions on both sides, which enables drivers to easily escape from the course.
T14
R:33 / W :13M
(Marina sector) In this course, drivers should apply CP more deeply. Because it has a significantly short distance to next corner, drivers should rapidly convert from OUT in this course and to OUT in the next course. Drivers should apply CP deeply in order to easily move into the next corner. Also, since mobile walls are installed close to both sides, concentration and sufficient control are required for drivers. Since drivers may feel like falling into a deep maze while moving from the right-angle corner to the next corner, they may experience mental stress.
T15
R:23 / W :13M
(Marina sector) This course can be easily conquered if the lining has been properly made from the previous corner. Also, since the left-turn direction is applied for the lining, as well as with the next corner, the lining can be carried out relatively easily. Artificial grass and save zones are established on the right side in order to prevent mobile collision that may occur due to spinning or sliding. Since this area is a blind sector where the front view is obstructed by mobile walls, drivers should pay attention to official signals. * Blind Sector
T16
R:11 / W :13M
(Marina sector) Drivers can smoothly drive through this course if OUT-IN-OUT has been properly carried out in the previous corner. However, since a curbstone is installed at the inner part of the CP point to prevent Shot Cut, entering too deeply into the inner side of the corner may lead the car to the curbstone, which may also lead to failure to control, collision with mobile walls, or collision between cars. Therefore, drivers should be very careful. Also, it is the sector that leads to the waterfront area.
T17
R:115 / W :13M
(Marina sector) Since this sector has a relatively large angle, drivers can increase their speed. Also, since T18, which is the last corner, also has a relatively smooth angle, drivers should drive from T17 (IN) to T18 (IN) in order to reduce the time and increase the speed. Since the Pit IN sector starts from the end of the corner, drivers should be prepared in advance. However, since this sector is the longest blind sector within this circuit, drivers may not see an accident that has occurred in the front. So, the drivers should be very careful and pay attention to official signals. Also, it is one of the most beautiful waterfront areas that remind us of Monaco or Valencia Street Circuit along the Mediterranean Sea. * Blind sector
T18
R:78 / W :15M
(Marina sector) It is most ideal to apply IN while driving in T17 which immediately leads to a grid straight line, in which drivers can increase their speed sufficiently. Also, it is the last sector that leads to the Start-Finish line where we can see a Korean-style Bridge, which is one of the landmarks in the racing circuit, and the magnificent main grand stand.
